The issue of the influx of illegal migrants into the United States through smuggling routes across the southern border with Mexico remains one of the major irritants for native-born and naturalized citizens. The «newly arrived» illegals, numbering between 11 and 25 million according to various estimates, are a dead weight on the social welfare system, swelling the ranks of the homeless and serving as a breeding ground for crime.
The promise of Donald Trump, returning to the White House, to pull this festering thorn out of the nation’s body — an obsessive refrain in his speeches during the campaign — played a significant role in swaying voter sympathies in his direction and helping him take revenge. Trump’s supporters were not even deterred by his formidable intention to carry out a large-scale, essentially military, operation to deport migrants.
«A secure border saves not only the lives of our citizens, but also the lives of the migrants themselves», Tom Homan, Trump’s nominee to head the Border Patrol, thought it necessary to explain.
Tom Homan knows the problem firsthand. In an interview, he gave an example of how, during a raid, he discovered a trailer attached to a car belonging to a smuggler who was secretly transporting refugees into the U.S. Inside the trailer were 19 dead migrants, «including a five-year-old boy».
Tom Homan will carry out deportation orders strictly and without sentimentality. He is aware of cases in which illegals have a child who automatically becomes a US citizen «by right of the soil», and then use this argument to obtain a residence permit. Trump’s appointee takes a hard line. When an illegal immigrant admitted to using his child as a reason against repatriation, Homan replied that he «cannot hold this country hostage».
At the same time, Tom Homan vowed that he would act according to the law to prevent human rights violations. He knows of cases where illegal migrants have found themselves in the position of powerless servants to drug cartel leaders who have streamlined the importation of «human cargo» into the U.S.
Landon Dixon, a 36-year-old executive director of Bob’s House of Hope in Denton, Texas, runs a unique shelter for teenagers from Central and South America brought in as «sex slaves» by criminal syndicates. Dixon said some of the teens had head injuries and ripped nails from being tortured. Drug dealers, the teens said, «chained their victims to radiators, often beat them, and got them hooked on drugs».
Under Trump, Breitbart reports, the «scandals and disasters» on the migration trail that occurred under his predecessor will be made public. Breitbart believes: «Exposing the abuses and harm caused by ‘progressives’ (read Democrats) to migrants, American ‘working class’ families, and U.S. college graduates can partially undermine many progressives’ claims of moral superiority».
Retired Border Patrol agent J.J. Carrell testified at U.S. congressional hearings that Alejandro Mayorkas, who headed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under Biden, bears direct responsibility for «the largest mass invasion (of migrants) into America that the world has ever seen».
Under Joe Biden, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics, the proportion of citizens born abroad reached an unprecedented 51.6 million people as of March 2024. Moreover, «one out of every six or seven people living in America is an illegal alien. America has experienced the greatest demographic shift in modern history», Carrell said, adding: «The fundamental transformation of America has begun».
In Carrell’s view, the Obama-Clinton-Biden administration’s leniency toward the influx of migrants — including those with criminal backgrounds and ties to terrorist groups — was designed to expand its electorate at the expense of second-class citizens dependent on welfare and handouts.
Correspondents for the British newspaper The Mail on Sunday spoke to people in Trump’s inner circle and found that strict regulation of migration is at the top of his action plan. The newspaper quotes an unnamed lawyer familiar with a thorough discussion of this issue at Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. According to him, «Donald is preparing a series of steps against illegal immigrants that, in his words, will cause ‘shock and awe’».
As a British tabloid predicts, «Within hours of his inauguration, Trump will take his place at the fabled ‘Resolute’ desk in the Oval Office and begin what he has called ‘the largest mass deportation in American history’».
To legalize the mass cleansing of North American states, they plan to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. Illegal migrants and members of drug cartels will be classified as «enemies of the people».
Trump is prepared to deploy military units in addition to the National Guard and police. Raids are expected on businesses and farms where illegals may be hiding. The uprooting of ethnic mafias, which actively recruit «foot soldiers» among the migrants, will begin. The plan has been codenamed «Operation Aurora», in honor of the city of Aurora, Colorado, where militants from the Venezuelan group Tren de Aragua have turned entire neighborhoods into their bases for drug trafficking and establishing the sex industry.
Trump promised to finish what he started in his first term: extending the wall on the border with Mexico to 700 miles (over 1,000 km). Biden immediately froze the «construction of the century» when he took office. Now his successor is ready to allocate $8 billion for its resumption. But that’s «pocket change» — the entire package of measures to counter the influx of migrants will cost the federal budget a trillion dollars.
It is possible that Trump will agree to missile strikes on clandestine laboratories producing opioids, not at all bothered by the fact that they are located on the territory of a sovereign country — in Mexico. He is also advised to impose a naval blockade on the southern neighbor and to conduct inspections of all ships in search of smuggled drugs.
What could be the consequences of the «shock and awe» planned by Trump? The minimum forecast: deterioration of relations with Mexico, migrants sneaking through new secret passages, drug cartels turning to guerrilla warfare, and an escalation of inter-ethnic hostility in society.
